A few weeks ago we went to the wedding of the young lady whose bridal shower we'd gone to earlier. This was the first wedding my husband and I attended after we got married, and also the first formal event to which we brought our little son! I overpacked the diaper bag in case of emergencies, but everything went very well. Devindra didn't cry at all, and was very well-behaved throughout the reception. We were so proud of him!
Since this was a Sri Lankan wedding, we had to really dress up in formal clothes. Women usually wear saris to South Asian weddings, and Sri Lankan ones are no exception. However, I couldn't fit into my sari blouses after having the baby, so until I lost enough weight to get back into them I chose a floor-length dress I got on clearance from Nordstrom:

I love this dress! I felt really good in it, and it fit the occasion perfectly. Since the dress had a jeweled embellishment at the shoulder, I wore earrings and lots of bangles to match:

The bangles were a mix of new ones I got at Macy's, our local Indian store Meena Bazaar, and ones I owned.
South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, etc.) stores often carry a variety of beautiful costume jewelry from India and Pakistan. I go to these shops for jewelry to match different outfits. I look for bangles in all different colors, and I now have a great collections!

Thanks J! I'm really grateful for Nordstrom's party dress selection, lol! I was having nightmares about trying to find a formal dress that didn't cost too much -- Nordies clearance section to the rescue! ^_^
