DIWALI PARTY

A couple of weeks ago we went to our Indian friends' home for a Diwali party. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, celebrated with great joy and excitement throughout India. There are temple services, parties, festivals, fireworks and loads of yummy food and sweets! Since there are many Indian children at our preschool, we get gifts of homemade sweets and invitations to Diwali parties.

Indians dress up to the nines for Diwali, in outfits glittering with sequins, crystals and jewels. Even little babies are in blinged-out clothes! I couldn't wear one of my saris since I still can't fit into the blouses post-baby, but hopefully next year I'll get to do that.

So instead, I chose a colorful maxi dress with a cotton sweater (since it was cold) and Indian bangles:

Our little son loved this dress! I think it's because babies are drawn to bright colors. ^_^ I even got compliments from one of the ladies at the party, who wanted to know where to find dresses like this. I got mine online from Nordstrom.

I also wore these bangles, a gift a friend brought me from India, and they went perfectly with the dress:

We had so much fun at that party! I could kick myself, though -- I forgot to take my camera! The gorgeous saris and outfits were a sight to behold. Next time, I'll be sure to take some photos to share with you all.

Beautiful dress, you always pick the patterns that I would natural go for. You look amazing for just having a little. You bounced back nicely!

Thank you! Got this on clearance at Nordstrom online! They have a Nordstrom Rack section on their website, and I found this on there for a huge discount. Had to get it since I love colors so much! :o)
